Stichting Landelijke Federatie van Chinese Organisaties in Nederland

Established in 1987, the Landelijke Federatie van Chinese Organisaties in Nederland (LFCON) is the umbrella organization representing Chinese community groups in the Netherlands. As the official bridge between the Chinese community and the Dutch government, the Federation engages in dialogue on behalf of the Chinese community, safeguards its legitimate rights and interests, promotes integration into Dutch society, and fosters unity among its member organizations. The Federation is a non-profit public welfare organization with no political or religious affiliation.

History

1987

First Chairman: Mr. Mei Xuhua

In the 1980s, the number of Chinese community organizations in the Netherlands increased significantly. The Dutch government hoped to establish a unified body that could represent the Chinese community to facilitate communication and dialogue. Against this background, 17 Chinese community organizations tly initiated and founded this organization.

1989

Chairman:Mr. Lin Dehua

During this period, the Federation consolidated its organizational foundation and continued to promote communication and dialogue with the Dutch government.

1991

Chairman:Mr. Mei Xuhua

Mei Xuhua took office as Chairman again, continuing the work direction set in the early days of the Federation.

1994

Chairman:Mr. Hu Zhiguang

By June 1994, the number of member associations had reached 35.

1999

Chairman:Mr. Bi Chuanyou

The Federation continued to develop with a further expanded membership base.

2007

Chairman:Mr. Yang Huagen

During the term of Chairman Yang Huagen, the Federation successfully held a series of events commemorating the 100th anniversary of Chinese immigrants arriving in the Netherlands. These events received great attention from mainstream Dutch society and significantly raised the social status of the Chinese community.

2010

Chairman:Mr. Wang Jianguang

It organized the World Chinese Cuisine Cooking Competition in Rotterdam, which became a highlight of his term of office.

2017

Chairman:Mr. Ji Zengbin

The Federation grandly held its 30th Anniversary Celebration and the Inauguration Ceremony of the 12th Council at a hotel in Utrecht.

2023

Chairman:Mr. Huang Qilin

On the evening of February 22, 2023, the Federation’s transition ceremony was grandly held at the Oceanium in Rotterdam.

2026

Chairman:Mr. Chen Long

Op 12 maart 2026 werd de heer Chen Long verkozen tot voorzitter van de 14de Federatie.

Association Functions

As the official bridge between the Dutch government and the Chinese community, the Landelijke Federatie van Chinese Organisaties in Nederland (LFCON) performs the following core functions: representing the Chinese community in dialogue with the government to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests in accordance with the law; uniting Chinese community organizations across the Netherlands to build consensus and collective strength; facilitating the integration of the Chinese community into mainstream Dutch society; promoting Chinese culture and supporting Chinese language education; and organizing charitable and public welfare activities. Organizational Structure

Stichting Landelijke Federatie van Chinese Organisaties in Nederland has established a Board of Directors as its statutory governing body, which represents the Federation externally and assumes legal liability. The Council serves as the internal management and operational body, consisting of the Standing Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, member organizations and an Advisory Group. The Secretariat is responsible for daily administration and external liaison. The three bodies perform their respective duties and jointly ensure the standardized operation of the Federation.
